Aleck Bovick rocks the FAMAS

Aleck Bovick (born Maria Teresa Bovick Tambis on May 18, 1984) is a Filipino actress. She is currently in a relationship with actor Carlo Maceda.

Bovick also participated in the ABS-CBN show Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition, where she was one of the fourteen celebrity housemates. She made a sacrifice for giving her old father Php100,000 in return, she shaved her head bald along with fellow housemate Rico. She was evicted from the show last March 11, 2006 after receiving 13.6 percent of the people's vote and became the first female celebrity evicted from the house. Her best friend in the house is Gretchen Malalad.

In 2003, the FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) was rocked by its second scandal, this time involving Aleck Bovick. The Best Actress Award of the 51st FAMAS Awards went to Aleck for a role in a bold movie, Tampisaw, much to the dismay of some people in the industry. Many people, including FAMAS winner Amalia Fuentes, felt that FAMAS had killed itself when it gave a FAMAS to Bovick. Others have alleged that Bovick could have paid FAMAS for the Award. In Aleck's speech, she thanked a certain lawyer, which further prompted suspicion within the industry. Nevertheless, FAMAS did its own cleansing. FAMAS President Art Padua restructured the FAMAS by inviting more Palanca Award-winners (Pulitzer Prize of the Philippines) to the Academy and dismissing members who have gone AWOL.
